TONIGHT ON WQXR: ASTROPHYSICIST NEIL deGRASSE TYSON BREAKS DOWN HOLST'S EPIC PLANETS SUITE (LISTEN LIVE)

WQXR (105.9 FM) Radio will feature the best of both worlds this evening with an in-depth discussion on English composer Gustav Holst's epic "Planets Suite," and how each movement of the infamous 7-piece orchestral suite relates to our solar system with renowned American astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson.

The Planets Suite, which Holst intended as a retrospective on astrology - specifically the long-held belief of the planets' alleged 'psychological effects' on man - has overwhelmingly succeeded in infiltrating pop culture and has all but become synonymous with big-budget blockbuster features concerning outer space.

Listen below to a sneak preview of Dr. Tyson offering his take on the most famous movement in The Planets Suite, "Jupiter"* with WQXR host Elliott Forrest.

This is going to be good.

The program airs tonight at 9PM EST - online listeners can click on either the WQXR Streaming Radio App below, or via the app located at the right sidebar (bottom) of this blog, and/or alternatively, can visit WQXR.org to download the mobile app.

UPDATE 9 PM - 'LIVE' NOW: (PROGRAM CONCLUDED).
